Rich Rod Era is About to Begin...

Huge football fan here, I've mentioned that I'm sure of it, anyways, the very first college football game is this Saturday. I could not be more excited!!

Plus there are quite some new and exciting changes this year to the Wildcat season.

First and foremost we have a new coach! Rich Rodriguez! Super super excited to see what he does with the team. My dad and I talk about it basically every night. Excited really doesn't explain our emotions.
One of the coolest things Rich Rod is pushing deals with our football teams pregame pump-up session which is more accurately called the Haka. Rich Rod wants the Zona Zoo to learn it and perform it with the team. Bad ASS! Hopefully it catches on because that would really be something! (The above video teaches you how to Haka!)

Also the North End Zone is being constructioned up so it'll be cool to see the progress on that bad boy.
Anyways, we were able to get season tickets again! Whoo-hoo! Also the season starts out with  3 home games in a row, which means you should be expecting more football breakdowns by yours truly.

You're welcome.
Oh plus UofA versus ASU November 23rd. Awwww Yeaaa

Stir Fry with Angel Hair Pasta

I got a new cookbook! It makes me so happy. It is full of super simple recipes with mostly common ingredients.  One of the recipes was stir fry, so of course I had to make that instantly. But I automatically made some changes because I'm very picky with my stir fry, in that I need 50 times more vegetables.

So here's my fancy stir fry recipe!
Get in your kitchen and recruit: bean sprouts, olive oil, salt, angel hair pasta (or super thin), pepper, beef cut into thin strips, carrots, green onions, mushrooms, snow peas, oyster sauce, sesame seeds, and sweet chili sauce.
First things first, prepare all of your veggies. So wash your snow peas and cut in half.
Cut your mushrooms into big chucks.
Chop up the carrots, green onions, and baby carrots and get everything ready.
Heat some olive oil over medium heat.
Throw in your beef, add salt and pepper and brown, no longer than 5 minutes! Important because you are going to be adding this back to the heat so don't overcook it!
Yum!
Now in the same pan, throw in the carrots first and let them cook for about 3-5 minutes.
After that throw in the rest of the veggies and toss.
Get your sauce stuff ready!
First throw in some sesame seeds. Then throw in some more. Your heart will thank you.
Add the rest of the sauce ingredients: oyster sauce and sweet chili sauce. Let that cook and get delicious. If you want you can cover it and let the veggies get just a little soft and heavenly.

I love stir fry veggies.
While the veggies are cooking get your pasta cooking!
Oh this is my favorite type of pasta. It sings to me. Like a choir of angels. Heh get it?
Once cooked serve your stir fry!
Of course serve it over the pasta! It's delicious, divine, and delightful!

Stir Fry with Angel Hair Pasta
  • 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/4 lb. Stir Fry meat (or meat cut up into strips)
  • 3 carrots sliced
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • Handful of mushrooms sliced up
  • Handful of snow peas
  • 1 can of baby corn (halved)
  • 1/2 can of bean sprouts
  • 1/2 cup of oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup of sweet chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds
  • Angel Hair Pasta
  • Salt & Pepper
  1. Get all your ingredients ready, cut up all your veggies and put them to a side. Then get your water boiling for your pasta.
  2. Next heat your olive oil over medium heat and throw in the meat and season with some salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, not too long or you'll overcook the meat!
  3. Remove the beef and put in the carrots. The thicker the slices the longer those will need to cook before the rest of the veggies. Roughly cook them for 3-4 minutes flipping them once.
  4. Add the rest of veggies: green onions, mushrooms, snow peas, baby corn, 1/4 can of bean sprouts and  tablespoon of sesame seeds.
  5. Then stir in the oyster sauce and sweet chili sauce making sure everything is evenly coated.
  6. Let that cook on medium for 5-6 minutes or until the snow peas are soft yet crunchy. That makes sense right? Yeah.
  7. While you let your veggies cook, your pasta water should be boiling, so dump in your pasta and let it cook.
  8. The pasta and veggies should finish at the same time, be sure to be taste testing your food in case you need more sweet chili sauce or salt or pepper. Add this as well as the remainder of the bean sprouts (1/4 cup) and sesame seeds (1 tablespoon) then serve the stir fry veggies over pasta.
  9. Mix, serve and enjoy!
Tip: If you want to add some spice throw in some chili oil or crushed red pepper at the begging just remember to adjust according to taste!

My weekend

Now I know I said you'd hear from me after my MCAT, and if you didn't to blame the MCAT. But that isn't the case for my absence.

I actually went to San Diego!

It was all last minute.  On Thursday my cousin called me and asked if I'd be free this weekend because she had tickets to a football game in San Diego. But being in my MCAT mindset I said I wasn't sure and got back to studying. But long story short I ended up being able to go! It was an awesome get-away weekend that I surely needed.

We drove to San Diego and ended up arriving at the hotel at 3 in the morning, it was super early and we were slap happy. But after five minutes in the room we all passed out.
The hotel happened to be right in the middle of the Gaslamp Quarter
The View!

The next morning we got up and went to do some sightseeing before the game.

We joked that this is the first place to check for us if we go "missing", we're really all talk.
We walked over to see the Midway
and it's surroundings.
Then we walked over to little Italy. It was so cool. It reminded my sister and I of Foz in Spain!
There was a well guarded gate too. Can't have too many useless locks right?
Then we stopped and had lunch at this little Italian restaurant.  It was perfect timing because it was super hot!!

While eating we realized there was a Ghirardelli just a few blocks away so we walked over and enjoyed some delicious chocolately goodness!
On our way there we passed by a theater with Batman stickers on the doors. I love San Diego.

At this point we were exhausted so we walked back to the hotel and watched some Tom & Jerry and waited until it was game time.

When we finally left the hotel, we grabbed the trolley and headed to the stadium!

On the way there was a fire. A car fire. It was INTENSE!

Finally we arrived and got our seats and it was such an exciting game! Now it was a Cowboys versus the Chargers and since I'm not a true fan of either i decided to root for the Cowboys since my cousin is a die-hard fan.

By half-time the cowboys were up 10-0

But then after half time, the Chargers came out and they were on top of it. They ended up winning 28-20 but I had a ton of fun.
Thank you to the nice Chargers fan who not only took this picture but stopped his creeper friend from getting in on the picture.

After the game we stopped by Hooters to grab some wings and I'm fairly positive I fell asleep twice while eating I was exhausted.
That was the end of our San Diego trip. It was short and sweet and I took two things from this weekend.

1. I need to visit San Diego very very soon.
2. I can't wait for regular season to start! WHOO Football!

Adventures of the sick

Just about a week away from the dreaded MCAT exam and wouldn't you know...
I'm getting sick.

I seriously have the absolute worst luck. The last time I got sick was back in May right when the Avengers came out. Wait a second...
I started feeling these symptoms the moment it was official that I was going to see the Dark Knight Rises in IMAX earlier today. Do you see the parallel?
Superheros make me sick!
I wonder what's going to happen when I go to Comic Con next year. Oh no.

p.s. If you don't hear from me for a while blame the MCATs, if you hear from me and I sound distressed, blame the MCATs.

Paranormal Activity 4

I've stated before I'm a horror fan. Love the movies to death even though they happen to scare me literally to the point of death. Ironic is the word that comes to mind.

Well I've also mentioned that I am a huge wuss. Especially the whole paranormal realm. But of course that doesn't stop me from watching the movies. Why would it?

Well the infamous Paranormal Activity chain is coming out with another film. Yay. I've been an avid fan since the first movie came out way back when. Went and saw the relatively unknown film at midnight with some friends and I've been hooked ever since.

Just last year when the third came out I had a PA marathon with some friends, Kelsey of course was there, and we watched the first two then went to theaters to see the third.

We screamed like we've never screamed before. We cowered in our seats. We wept. We cursed the idea of the marathon. And when it was finally over we lifted our frail emotionally drained bodies from the theater and as soon as we got ready to drive off we realized we couldn't go home. We needed to be around people. Lots and lots of people.

I didn't sleep well for days.

And now that the fourth is coming out I'm terrifyingly excited. I hope there is a marathon, an actual theater marathon because these movies are 50 times more terrifying in theaters. Those sound effects. Ugh dear lord. But anyways, I watched the trailer the other day and if you don't want to watch it I'll explain a smidgen. It starts out with the terrifying scenes from the first three movies and then goes into the new material. Oh and SPOILER ALERT Hunter is back. Yay.

So now I'll probably have trouble sleeping for the next few days as what I saw will haunt me just as soon as I turn out the lights. But that'll be nothing compared to when I see all four films come October 19th.

Here's the trailer if you are interested.
Yay.

MCAT Prep Essay Fail

So I've been studying some time now for the MCAT exam. For those who don't know it is a test required to get into medical school and like any standardized test has a specific focus: biology, physics, and general/organic chemistry. Anyways I've been reviewing a 2009 MCAT prep book so good thing science doesn't change all that much in 3 years. That was sarcasm.

While reading my MCAT prep book they state that specific details are imperative for the essay portion.  Then they give an example that an essay discussing the dangers of horseback riding could cite the paralysis Christopher Reeve suffered while horseback riding.

And while I could ramble in paragraph form how my mind handled this tip, instead I'll break it down into the mind fragments that soon followed after reading the passage.

Christopher Reeve is Superman.
The horse broke Superman's back.
The horse is Superman's Bane.
They would call him Horsebane.
Would Horsebane be a Horseman?
Horsemen of Apocalypse.
Death Famine Pestilence War.
Why can I only recall the Horsemen of Death members?
Maybe because I like them more.
Especially Gambit.
Kinetic Energy= 1/2mv^2
Potential Energy=mgh
Joules.
Wait what was the example about?

So yay for remembering the formulas for kinetic and potential energy but way WAY off topic.  I pray this doesn't happen on test day.

Instagram Pro

Having just recently obtained a fancy new Android phone I've been downloading apps and exploring a whole new and exciting world that is smartphones.

One of the first apps that I downloaded was Instagram. I've got friends who have iPhones (heck my best friend Kelsey has one and as she put it she is an OI) and I've heard about all this Instagram hype so I wanted to check it out.

But after I downloaded it I didn't "activate" it. I waited. A while.

I don't know why but something about Instagram confused and intimidated me. I've got a Facebook, a Twitter, a blog, and a Pinterest and yet this seemed too much. I'm not ashamed to admit that I googled "how to Instagram" I didn't find what I was looking for though. And so I remained confused.

Finally I signed up and before I had a chance to delete it Kelsey followed me. So I knew there was no turning back. And I'm happy to say I have no more Instagram fears.

Plus in the days since getting it I've already done all the typical Instagram shots.

1. The Food Shot

2. The Nature Shot
3. The Pet Shot

I have yet to do the no filter shot, the sky shot, the self portrait shot, or the the vintage/retro broken down shot but give me time. It's bound to happen.

Oh and feel free to follow me!
